A miraculous story
A miraculous story became, as it were, another strand in my life and career as a painter. It was for me a story based on faith in potential, as well as on the foundations of personal identity; on the imperious necessity to renew, to refresh the Being… (Spirit is nourished by the unexpected, by revelations: and above all by innovation). Obama came to me as a revelation, ever since he emerged to revive hope on the political scene. Such hope also reanimates my creative fire. Ever since I made my very individual discovery of a particular work by Picasso - a work considered as conveying an essential message for future centuries - I also multiplied my attempts to express that moment of hope through the power of words; and, in a certain way, to express the same message through the power of painting, the magic of the canvass.
The fact that His Excellency Barack Obama and his family accepted one of my paintings, was for me such an illustrious honour, that it helped me towards reasserting my self-confidence. It is a significant new paradigm in my art : one I would like to share with others. The artistic means to express this desire to share are so much firmer now, after thirty-five years of painterly practice. May I just say that all that happened is simply marvelous!!!
